Curriculum for 6th-8th Grades

Horizon Academy at Marion Oaks has established an Advanced Academy program. We currently offer seven high school credit classes. Students can earn credits in Algebra I Honors, English I Honors, Geometry 1 Honors, Physical Science Honors, 2D Studio Art, Agriscience Foundations, Digital Information Technology, and Medical Skills. We have selected courses that challenge our students in addition to courses that offer an academic advantage, leading to the high school magnet programs offered at Dunnellon High School and West Port High School, where the majority of our students matriculate.

Horizon Academy offers club days on a monthly basis so that students can choose to participate in clubs such as Future Farmers of America, Future Business Leaders of America, Health Occupation Student Association, and more. These activities can offer real world application to their current in-class studies plus leadership development.

All students are required to take Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies and Physical Education. In addition, students will have a variety of elective opportunities.

Students

  • All students will receive the opportunity to choose from the following list of electives: Agriculture (8th Grade), Art, Band, Business Applications, Health Occupations, and Drama.
  • Electives are subject to change based on student or school needs/requirement.
